# Customization Templates: Streamline Your Product Options
## What Are Customization Templates?
Customization Templates are a powerful feature that allows you to create reusable sets of customization options (like colors, sizes, materials) that can be applied to multiple products. Instead of recreating the same options for each product, you can create templates once and apply them wherever needed.
## Benefits of Using Customization Templates
- **Save Time**: Create options once and reuse them across your entire inventory
- **Consistency**: Maintain uniform customization options across similar products
- **Flexibility**: Apply different combinations of templates to different products
- **Organization**: Group related options into logical templates by type
- **Bulk Management**: Apply templates to multiple products at once
## Types of Customization Templates
You can create templates for various types of customizations:
- **Colors**: Different color options for your products
- **Sizes**: Standard or custom sizing options
- **Materials**: Different material choices
- **Text Personalization**: Options for custom text
- **Components/Add-ons**: Additional elements that can be added
- **Patterns/Designs**: Different design variations
- **Finishes**: Surface treatment options
- **Packaging Options**: Gift wrapping or special packaging
- **Thread/Stitching**: Thread color or stitching style options
- **Custom Measurements**: Specific measurement options
- **Other**: Any other type of customization you offer
## Creating Your First Template

1. Log in to your Dealfair account
2. Navigate to the Inventory Room
3. Click on "Customization Templates" in the navigation menu
### Step 2: Create a New Template
1. Click the "Create Template" button
2. Fill in the template details:
- **Name**: Give your template a descriptive name (e.g., "T-Shirt Sizes")
- **Type**: Select the appropriate type (e.g., "Size")
- **Description**: Add an optional description to help you remember what this template is for
- **Active**: Toggle on to make the template available for use
### Step 3: Add Options to Your Template
1. For each option you want to add:
- **Option Name**: Enter the name (e.g., "Small", "Medium", "Large")
- **Value**: For some template types, you can add specific values (e.g., color codes)
- **Price Adjustment**: Add any price modifications for this option (e.g., +$5.00)
- **Stock**: Optionally track inventory for this specific option
- **Image**: For visual options like colors, you can upload an image (coming soon)
2. Click "Add Option" to add more options as needed
3. Click "Create Template" to save your new template
## Applying Templates to Products
### Method 1: During Product Creation
1. When creating a new product in the Inventory Room, you'll see a "Templates" section
2. Select the templates you want to apply to this product
3. For each template, you can mark it as "Required" if customers must select an option
### Method 2: When Editing Existing Products
1. Edit any product in your Inventory Room
2. Navigate to the "Templates" section
3. Select or update the templates applied to this product
### Method 3: Bulk Application
1. From the Customization Templates page, click "Apply to Products"
2. Select multiple products from your inventory
3. Choose which templates to apply
4. Mark templates as required or optional
5. Click "Apply Templates" to update all selected products at once
## Managing Your Templates
### Editing Templates
1. From the Customization Templates page, find the template you want to edit
2. Click the "Edit" button
3. Update the template name, description, or active status
4. Add, edit, or remove options
5. Click "Update Template" to save your changes
### Deleting Templates
You can delete templates that aren't being used by any products:
1. From the Customization Templates page, find the template you want to delete
2. Click the "Delete" button
3. Confirm the deletion
> **Note**: You cannot delete templates that are currently applied to products. You'll need to remove the template from all products first.
## How Customers See Your Customizations
When a customer views your product, they'll see all the customization options you've applied:
1. Required customizations must be selected before adding to cart
2. Optional customizations can be skipped
3. Any price adjustments will be automatically calculated
4. Customers can select one option from each template
## Best Practices
### Organizing Templates
- **Keep Templates Focused**: Create separate templates for distinct types of options
- **Use Clear Names**: Make template and option names descriptive and easy to understand
- **Group Similar Options**: Put related options in the same template
- **Consider Your Workflow**: Organize templates in a way that matches your production process
### Template Types
- **Use Appropriate Types**: Select the correct template type to help with organization
- **Consistent Naming**: Use consistent naming conventions across similar templates
- **Limit Options**: Don't overwhelm customers with too many options in a single template
### Pricing
- **Clear Price Adjustments**: Make price differences logical and clear
- **Premium Options**: Use price adjustments for options that cost more to produce
- **Tiered Pricing**: Consider creating a logical progression for price adjustments
## Troubleshooting
### Template Not Appearing for Selection
- Check if the template is marked as "Active"
- Verify you're logged in as the template owner
- Refresh the page and try again
### Cannot Delete a Template
- The template is likely still attached to one or more products
- Edit those products and remove the template, then try deleting again
### Price Adjustments Not Showing
- Ensure you've entered the price adjustment correctly (with decimal points)
- Check that the option is properly saved
- Verify the template is correctly applied to the product
